AmazeVR Moves Headquarters to Los Angeles to Double Down on Hollywood Content

AmazeVR, a premium, cloud-based platform for high-quality VR content production and distribution, today announced that it has relocated its company headquarters and all of its Silicon Valley-based staff to Los Angeles in order to take advantage of the tremendous breadth of content being developed in the area. The move and commitment to L.A. has already opened numerous opportunities, including partnerships with two of the top immersive entertainment studios, Atlas V and Felix & Paul Studios.

Through the deal with Atlas V, AmazeVR will be able to release highly anticipated titles, including Gloomy Eyes and Ayahuasca, before they appear on other VR video platforms. Felix & Paul Studios content available on AmazeVR includes the Emmy-nominated Space Explorers series and Emmy-winning experience The People’s House, featuring President Barack and Michelle Obama. All experiences will be available under the Amaze Premium Pass, a subscription-based service that provides unlimited access to over 70 hours of content with new premium titles released weekly, all under the Amaze app.

“L.A. is full of the world’s greatest talent in entertainment. It has developed a vibrant tech scene as well that will fuel AmazeVR as the company continues to grow, making it the ideal base for our entire team,” said Steve Lee, CEO of AmazeVR. “Actors, directors and content creators see the potential for VR as the entertainment medium of the future. Many of the most respected in their fields already have begun developing projects with Atlas V and Felix & Paul Studios. Our respective partnerships will enable us to deliver a treasure trove of cutting-edge content over the AmazeVR platform, and by building out our presence in L.A. we will be well positioned to expand our ecosystem and draw in audiences throughout the world.”

AmazeVR was built to bring quality VR experiences to the masses, whether by producing outstanding content itself, empowering content creators with proprietary, easy-to-use tools or by partnering with the best VR studios to distribute content. This three-pronged approach is designed to provide a path forward that makes VR/AR the next great frontier for entertainment and personal displays.

In addition to moving Silicon Valley employees to the new L.A. headquarters, AmazeVR is growing its team across all departments to take advantage of the market opportunity.

Coming to AmazeVR

Through the partnership with Atlas V, the following titles will be able available on the AmazeVR platform:

Gloomy Eyes: AmazeVR will be the first VR video platform to carry the much anticipated Gloomy Eyes three-episode experience, narrated by Colin Farrell. Gloomy Eyes debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and has drawn audiences in as the tiny, half-human, half-zombie Gloomy navigates his way through conflict in search of peace, acceptance and love.

Ayahuasca: This experience debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival and will arrive on the AmazeVR platform in December, a month before it is released on additional platforms. With Ayahuasca, participants are immersed in visions triggered by a dose of Ayahuasca. The spectator lives this through director Jan Kounen’s eyes as he travels on a spiritual voyage.

Battlescar: Coming next year, BattleScar follows a year in the life of Lupe, a Puerto Rican-American living in late 1970’s New York City. The film utilizes Lupe’s handwritten journal to guide us through her experiences spanning across the year 1978 as she meets Debbie, another runaway kid living in the city. BattleScar is a coming of age drama starring Rosario Dawson, that explores the theme of identity through the use of animation and immersive environments in virtual reality.

Vestige: This award-winning, room-scale VR creative documentary uses multi-narrative and volumetric live capture to take the viewer on a journey into the mind of Lisa as she remembers her lost love, Erik. Within an empty void, fragments of past memories appear of their life together.

“We are delighted to bring these totally unique experiences that have enthralled audiences across the globe to AmazeVR,” said Antoine Cayrol of Atlas V. “AmazeVR has shown a deep commitment to the very best VR content, and by doing so, it raises the standard for what VR can be. At the same time, the AmazeVR platform offers the opportunity to expose new audiences to this stellar content.”

Through the partnership with Felix & Paul Studios, AmazeVR users gain access to the following titles:

Space Explorers: A two-part, Emmy-nominated series narrated by Oscar-winner Brie Larson about the new age of space exploration. Made in collaboration with NASA, Roscosmos and other space agencies, this series allows viewers to witness firsthand the lives of both new and veteran astronauts as they navigate the trials and sacrifices of their training and missions.

The People’s House: This Emmy-nominated experience takes you on a historic visit to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama’s White House. Through the transportive power of VR, the Obamas take you on an intimate journey inside the West Wing, Executive and Private Residences, reflecting on their time there, and recounting the building’s profound history since its creation over two centuries ago.

Through the Ages: The first-ever virtual reality experience featuring a sitting president, this experience transports you on a journey to Yosemite with President Obama as he honors the legacy of our country’s national parks in the context of the National Parks Service Centennial.

Strangers: Step into the studio for an exclusive, intimate performance by Canadian singer-songwriter Patrick Watson. The first cinematic VR experience ever created.

“AmazeVR has developed an excellent model for bringing VR into the lives of consumers,” said Stephane Rituit, CEO and co-founder of Felix & Paul Studios. “We can’t wait to draw more people into the worlds of our immersive experiences, and we believe that AmazeVR will be an outstanding partner.”
