3rd Contest of Virtual Reality “Las Ranetas”
From the 3rd to the 19th of November at the Exposition hall in Alcañiz (Spain). For the third year in a row the cultural association “Las Ranetas” has organized the International Festival of Virtual Reality, in which we can have a broad selection of experiences, shorts and other artistic works made in virtual reality. As a novelty, the augmented reality will also have a place in the program this year.
In the section of experiences and shorts, among the 17 experiences selected this year, we will find the Chinese production “The Dream Collector”; “Dear Angelica” from Oculus Studio, which has been awarded with an Emmy; “The Turning Forest” from BBC; the surrealism of “Magritte VR”; the Spanish production “Salva el tiempo” from the Ministry of Time; the heavenly world trip of “Space Dream”, the brain implants in “The Argos files” and the delicious animation of “Milita”.
Regarding the artists participating in the exposition of virtual reality art, it is worth mentioning those works of the Japanese Tamiko Thiel (collaborating with Steven Spielberg, and contributing to the MoMA in New York and Venice Biennale); Rein Bijlsma, an outstanding artist in virtual reality in The Netherlands; Jeremy Collins, an artist residing in Tilt Brush who also illustrates in National Geographic; and the talented artist from Rotterdam, Henri Schoots, with a great progression in Medium.
In augmented reality we will see the so-called “Prosthetic Reality”, a collective exposition in an augmented book format. This work comes from Australia made by Sutu, a leading artist in both virtual and augmented reality who presents –together with Code on Canyas and 45 other sound artists and designers– several pictorial works which come to life when they are watched through the program EyeJack using either Android or iOS.
