IMERSA Hosting Seventh Annual IMERSA Summit 2016 @ Denver, Colorado

IMERSA is non-profit, professional trade association to support the international community of professionals who create large-scale immersive digital experiences in achieving the full potential of their chosen medium. The mission of the IMERSA is to is to advance the art and technology of immersive digital experiences.

 

IMERSA is hosting the seventh annual IMERSA Summit continues our conversations between converging business sectors and shaping the immersive arts industry with fulldome and VR film showcases, innovation sessions, networking sessions, and much more. The event is taking place at Denver Museum of Nature and Science from March 16 to 20, and features fulldome, virtual reality, giant screen, 3D and curved screen theaters, museums, science centers, immersive media, projection, 360 audio, themed entertainment, and 3D-spherical-panoramic photography. Take a virtual visit to a spherical, immersive laboratory called the Allosphere, where manufacturers, artists, content creators, researchers, makers, performers, scientists and media practitioners can come together to explore the unique qualities of the immersive environment. Learn about the exciting possibilities of virtual reality and its intersection with immersive content. These topics will be explored by three keynote speakers at the IMERSA 2016 Summit, March 16-21, 2016.

Jenny Carden (Zenka) – The VR and AR Explosion

is a sculptor and futurist known for her work in in Augmented Reality Street Art under the rubric “Street Art for the Galactic Age.” Past works include large-scale murals, ceramic installations and other works deployed in Los Angeles, Portland, Buenos Aires, and Panama. Her artwork explores the theme of how technological advances accelerate over time. For her 7:00 pm March 17th keynote, keynote Ms Carden will chart the hardware and content marketplace today and reveal the humorous development path the technology has taken over the last 50 years.

 

David McConville

David McConville – Chairman of the Buckminster Fuller Institute

David McConville is known in the fulldome and immersive community as co-founder of Eluminati, will kick off the Summit with a thought-provoking presentation on Wednesday, March 16th. He will give context to the growing awareness that our immersive tools can be used for positive social change. It is clear that artists, philosophers and technologists are embracing our medium and leveraging our profoundly affective tools far beyond the planetarium, and he will present his thoughts about where our immersive experiences are going.

 

Dr. JoAnn Kucera-Morin

Dr. JoAnn Kucera-Morin, Immersed in N-Dimensions:Using the Creative Process as a Computational Framework for Unfolding Complex Systems.

Dr. JoAnn Kucera-Morin is a professor of Media Arts and Technology and Music at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Dr. Kucera-Morin will offer her view of immersive content and its effect through a look at her domed lab called the Allosphere Research Facility Allosphere. This three-story echo-free (near-anechoic) cube allows interactive visual and aural representation of mathematical and scientific data. Dr. Kucera-Morin will speak on Saturday March 20, 2016, giving a fascinating look into the research behind immersive presentation of big data.
