The movie Avatar, directed by James Cameron, remains the highest selling grossing movie in history ($2.8 billion) is scheduled to release three follow-up sequels in December 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Lightstorm Entertainment, a film production company founded by James Cameron and Larry Kasanoff in 1990, has signed a five year contract with Hewlett-Packard and 20 Century Fox to produce the three Avatar sequels as immersive digital experiences!

Lightstorm president Jon Landau Said About Avatar Immersive Digital Experience
“ With ‘Avatar,’ we created a world that people want to immerse themselves in, a powerful and crucial way for us to provide fans the ability to continue to do that is through an immersive digital experience. Through our partnership with HP, we will create an entirely new paradigm for how you expand and grow a story world.” ( From Variety )
“This digital experience will connect all aspects of the ‘Avatar’ franchise to make it easy for our fans around the globe to really engage with our world and its themes and, if they want, become part of the story!” ( From Variety )
Avatar is one of our favorite movies. We watched it in 3D back in 2009, can’t wait to see the sequels being produced with fully immersive virtual reality elements.
Perhaps, by 2017, for Avatar 2 ( starring Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington and Sigourney Weaverwe ), we would be able to watch and share the movie experience with friends live in different parts around the world, in a virtual reality social metaverse, in real-time, and on VR headsets at our home!
Only can we extend dream and imagination that in 2018, maybe our own avatars can be part of the movie.
