Matryx Deepens Commitment to Open Source with Calcflow

Matryx, an open source platform for decentralized collaboration, is open sourcing Calcflow, the world’s first virtual reality (VR) graphing tool for mathematical modeling. Calcflow is one of the applications Matryx integrates to help its global users solve complex problems through 3D visualization and natural gesture interactions.

Calcflow is an intuitive VR interface for vector calculus and is used by scientists and engineers for both educational and commercial applications. Together, Matryx and Calcflow enable innovation at every level by providing a free and open forum for global collaboration.

Global reliance on open source software is rising as it becomes increasingly important to have software that encourages efficiency, code customization, and technical features that better meet user demands (see Black Duck 2017 survey). As an open source platform, Matryx provides a community and ecosystem for transparent and effective collaboration, reducing the duplication and fragmentation of efforts that result from closed, siloed systems. By providing Calcflow as an open source tool, Matryx lowers the barriers to entry for its users – including enthusiasts, academia and business professionals – while ensuring that code and software features remain robust.

“Solving the world’s hardest problems in silos leads to time and money wasted,” said Steve McCloskey, CEO, Matryx. “We believe that creating an open and transparent exchange of ideas will speed the rate of innovation, encourage users to collaborate with one another and ultimately result in major breakthroughs. By releasing both Calcflow and Matryx as open source software, we’re realizing our vision to provide a platform for decentralized collaboration while enabling our users to help advance the technology as their needs require.”

About Matryx
Matryx aims to incentivize collaboration in fields of knowledge and creation like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The open source platform consists of a bounty system, a library of digital assets, and a marketplace. Matryx will create a de facto standard for incentivized collaboration on top of the Ethereum blockchain using the ERC20 token MTX. The Matryx team focuses on creating virtual reality software for scientific research and development. The software suite includes Calcflow, the industry-leading VR mathematics toolkit, and nano-one, a VR interface for nanoscale design and simulation.
