Stars Wars The Force Awaken: Interactive Virtual Reality Experience
ILM’s Experience Lab, aka ILMxLab was founded 40 years ago by George Lucas who created Star Wars, one of my all-time favorite movie series! Announced a collaborative project between ILMxLab, Skywalker Sound and Lucasfilm that will bring virtual reality and augmented reality to Star Wars as an immersive and interactive experience for the fans!
ILMxLab is currently testing with virtual reality, iPad and Oculus Rift-based technology that allows movie fans to enter a movie, interact and navigate through the scenes! According to ILMxLab, the first project is most likely to be Stars Wars” The Force Awakens in December!

“The period of American technological superiority in the movie business is gone, you can get the same technology and people anywhere in the world now.” George Lucas
“What we’re aiming for is to open the two-dimensional world of the movies and allow fans to walk into those worlds with the same visual fidelity! All that George begat caused a reassessment of innovation from movies to video games. The next 40 years of ILM is about exploding that universe with tech once again. xLab is as attuned to Silicon Valley as it is to Hollywood.” John Gaeta, Creative Director of ILMxLab
