TRIBECA PREMIERE: VR Film INTO THE NOW from Photographer Michael Muller

Tribeca Film Festival is going to premier acclaimed director and legendary shark photographer Michael Muller’s first VR film Into the Now, executive produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Smith, Jules Daly and Jen Dennis and produced by RSA VR. Into the Now makes its worldwide premiere at Tribeca Film Festival as part of the Immersive Program Virtual Arcade.

The stereoscopic VR documentary focuses on marine life and ocean conservation told through the internal journey of its creator, Michael Muller. He conquers a lifelong fear of sharks and discovers the tranquility and peace of mind that is possible when submerged underwater, engaged with these curious creatures.

For his immersive 3D VR experience, Muller teamed up with a VR camera developer to invent a revolutionary camera system, which uses 9 large format cameras to capture all footage in 4K Stereoscopic 3D. The technology transports the viewer under the water’s surface in such a realistic way that it seems they are really swimming alongside these majestic creatures in exotic locations.

Accredited Tribeca Film Festival press can meet creator Michael Muller and experience Into the Now at Tribeca’s Press Day on Thursday, April 19th, from 10AM – 2 PM at The Hub. Into the Now partnered exclusively with Positron for Tribeca to offer the New York festival debut of Positron Voyager®, the first full-motion chair designed for premium cinematic VR. The chair provides a comfortable, fully immersive experience incorporating robotic rotation and reclining, haptic feedback, spatial audio and specialized seating for motion-synchronized theaters.

You can also see Into the Now at the Virtual Arcade at Tribeca’s Festival Hub (Spring Studios) from April 20th – 28th.

The Cannes Film Festival marks Into the Now’s next stop, where it will screen on May 10th as part of Tribeca’s programming alliance with NEXT @ Cannes Marche du Film.
