Viveport Announces Jury For Viveport Developer Awards; Adds New Community Choice Award
Today, the Viveport™ team announced the members of an elite, eight person jury who will be voting on the nominees for the first-ever Viveport Developer Awards (VDAs). That eight person jury, along with a Viveport Community vote, will determine the ultimate winner of a total of $500,000 in cash and prizes that will be revealed in January 2017. Twenty apps were nominated for their pioneering work in VR that best represent four of the key pillars of the Viveport platform: Explore, Experience, Create and Connect. The VDAs were established to showcase, celebrate and reward developers for their VR creations, with content to be made available on Viveport, the app store for virtual reality.
The judges include:
Brent Bushnell, CEO of Two Bit Circus
Marcie Jastrow, SVP Immersive Media and Head of Technicolor Experience Center, Technicolor
Geoff Keighley, Journalist and Executive Producer of the Video Game Awards
Nathaniël de Jong (Nathie), VR Content Creator on YouTube

The VR community will also have an opportunity to vote for their favorite of the deserving nominees with the recently revealed VDA Community Choice Award. People can visit the Viveport Community Forum (http://community.viveport.com/) to check out the all the nominees and help one of them win a bonus $10,000 in recognition of their stellar work. Public voting will be available on the forum today through December 18, 2016. The winner of the VDA Community Choice Award will be presented alongside the winners in the four categories.
“There aren’t enough ways to thank developers for their early investment in VR and sharing their experiences with us at Viveport,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport and SVP Virtual Reality, HTC. “We want the VDAs to encourage creators to continue innovating and driving the VR industry forward, and through the Community Choice Award give our consumers a voice in recognizing their favorite VR apps.”
