How to Make a Sexy 3D 360 VR Girl Video for Youtube Tutorial From Vulvar VR

Here is a comprehensive guide written by Al from VR Porn content studio Vulvar VR, explaining the nuts and bolts on how to properly produce a sexy 360 Youtube video.

Youtube is currently being overwhelmed by 360 videos featuring sexy VR Girls. An important contributing factor is the availability of cheap youtube quality 360 camera’s such as the Samsung Gear 360 and the Kodak PixPro Sp360. Any Youtuber with access to a sexy VR Girl can film her from different exposing and rousing angles, let the camera add-on software do the stichting and upload in less than a day work to Youtube. Here is an impression of some of such videos:

Sexy Youtube 360 video is becoming one of the hottest genre among other 360 degree video categories!

However, the more such videos are uploaded, the less they will stick out and move beyond the 100K or even 10K views. So when we decided to make a 360 video of our VR Girl Saphira, we had to face this challenge. Here are some pointers that helped us making the right decisions.

1 – from only voyeurism to story telling

Most 360 videos of VR Girls are either voyeuristic videos or try to mimic point of view porn videos barely staying within the limits of what is tolerated by Youtube. The early 360 video’s were mainly voyeuristic videos showing a beautiful VR Girl in sexy outfits in her bedroom, bathroom and living room. More recent voyeuristic videos are filmed much more in close up such as from the floor looking upwards. The viewer is lying on the floor and is looking upwards under the skirt as the VR Girl changes her cloths or as she crawls above the viewer.

After a while, there is a certain limit on reaching the audience with only showing almost nude VR Girls in close up. We decided to add storytelling to your video to make our VR Girl more interesting. Saphira has quite some interesting tattoos on her body, each with a story attached to it. So we took her story as leading and as she shows more of her body while explain her tattoos, we get the voyeurism effect as a bonus. Leading to a more healty Youtube Relative Audience Retention Graph (relative more users stick around to almost the end of the video), as shown here with these actual statistics of our video:

2 – Advance the technology from 360 to 3D 360 video

When looking at a sexy VR girl in close up via Google Cardboard or DayDream in 3D, she will be much more live like than in 2D. The 3D version will give a more natural immersed user experience. The viewer will have the feeling of almost being able to touch the VR Girl, getting much more excitement than in 2D only.

However, making 3D content is far more complex compared to 2D. And making 3D 360 degrees is even more harder. Commercially available 3D 360 video camera’s such as the OZO by Nokia are currently far too expensive for most Youtube producers.

We decided to make our own 3D 360 camera rig using 6 GoPro Hero’s where we replaced the original GoPro lenses with 185 degree fish eye lenses. And used GoPro Autopano Video and Adobe After Effect for the stiching and editing of the 2 x 3 video footage. Keeping our costs for hardware and software at an acceptable level. The most difficult part was the stiching and alignment of the stereo footage which took us a number of days. At the end, this approach turned out to be workable for us.

3 – Use 180 degrees for the main action and 360 for the immersed feeling

We did a number of experiments with 360 videos ranging from videos where the action is 360 degrees all around the viewer to videos shot in 180 degrees where the action is only in front of the viewer. What we learned is that viewers do clearly appreciate the more real live like feeling of 360 degrees compared to only 180 degrees videos as mainly used in adult VR videos.

However, in 360 videos, viewers do tend to get rather confused when the main action is spread all around them. Or when the action moves fast into different directions and they have to keep turning their head.

We decided to keep our VR Girl within the area of 180 degrees front of the viewer and placed “clones” of our VR girl in the other areas around. The main area is used for the story telling by Saphira. We used the other area’s to let her do some supporting activities. Giving the viewer the immersed feeling in 360 degree video of being present in the same space as Saphira while making it easy for the viewer to follow the story telling part. Here is a 3D 360 video frame showing our use of three spaces in 360 degrees:

4 – Invest time in making a great thumbnail picture for Youtube

After investing much time and effort in making a great 3D 360 video, it was obvious to us that we also need to design a great thumbnail picture for Youtube to attract traffic via mainly Youtube video suggestions. An important requirement is that the thumbnail should make it instantly clear to the viewer that this is not only a regular 360 video but that it really is shot in 3D and has been optimized for Google Cardboard and DayDream viewers. We resolved this by showing a styled cardboard image on the thumbnail together with a 3D 360 video icon.

Most Youtube thumbails are “taken” from some frame of the actual video. Although this can work great, another approach is to have a separate photo session with the VR Girl and use a great expressive photo instead of a video frame. That’s what we did and this is how our thumbnail image looks like:
