VR Society Launches the Inaugural ‘VR On the Lot’ Event @ Paramount Pictures Studio, Hollywood

The inaugural ‘VR On the Lot” begins Thursday October 13 and continues through Friday October 14 at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood. The first of its kind, the conference will be attended by all of the major studios, producers and production companies across the globe who will explore “VR: Seeing is Believing.”

In addition to the previously announced directors Robert Stromberg andBryan Singer, as well as studios, some of Hollywood’s leading directors, writers and producers are slated to attend this year’s conference including director James Foley (“Fifty Shades Darker,” “Fifty Shades Freed,” “House of Cards”), writer Dan Harris (“X-Men 2,” “Superman Returns,” “X-Men: Apocalypse”), writer Christopher Yost (“Thor: The Dark World,” “Thor: Ragnarok”), visual effects producer Dane Smith (“Deadpool,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”), executive producer Victoria Alonso (“Avengers: Infinity War,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Iron Man 3”) as well as representatives from China and New Zealand.

 

 

Paramount’s 10,000 square foot Stage 4 will serve as the conference VR demonstration area with multiple exhibitions of head mounted displays showcasing the latest VR experiences. The historic soundstage has been home to some of the most iconic films ever made, including Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Man Who Knew Too Much” and various “Star Trek” films and series.

 

The focus of the conference is on Virtual Reality content, production, distribution and technology, which includes panels and in-depth case studies produced by the PGA. There are two tracks: Track 1 (which is sold out) in the Paramount Main Theater and Track 2 in the Sherry Lansing Theater. (Limited seating available)

 

Track 1 includes short presentations and announcements by Hollywood studios and VR technology leaders, among others, and provides a generalized understanding of where the VR industry is today and where it looks to be going.

 

Track 2, which is PGA-produced, is the meeting place for both experienced VR and 360 content creators, as well as those looking to learn from the pros, on topics that cover the areas of Pre-Production, Production, Post Production, and Distribution. Case studies here include those on two VR Series, ‘Halcyon’ and ‘Gone,’ and one on VR Animation, the 2016 Emmy-winning ‘Henry.’ There are deeper looks into the VR live experiences of news, music and sports, as well VR documentary and journalism and location-based experiences.
