GRABBAG PUTS PLAYERS REFLEXES TO THE TEST IN VIRTUAL REALITY

VR production company Shadow Factory is releasing its first consumer game on Steam — GrabBag — this August 2018. GrabBag is a reflex-based “ride-and-catch” game where players must cruise down an exotic environment while trying to grab different items that fly toward them. The game is playable on the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
“This is the studio’s first game release to the public. We’re excited to be able to connect with the larger community,” says Shadow Factory founding partner Amit Chatterjee. “We have a whole slate of games planned, ranging from puzzle games to first-person shooters and even VR motion comics. We have a lot of confidence in where we think VR can go, we’re going to do everything we can to push the envelope.”
Three play areas are featured in this edition: a Hong Kong tramway, a street party in New Orleans, and a city in the future. Players are rewarded with score multipliers for consistent catches, and penalized for catching the wrong items. According to Producer Keiran Lovett, this “bite-sized” VR experience is perfect for group settings, allowing players to compete against each other at parties and other gatherings. “GrabBag is an easy-to-play virtual experience ideal for VR first-timers,” adds Senior Brand Manager Roger De Leon. “It promises casual VR users lots of surprising challenges and addictive fun.”
