The Bayou city’s first-ever free-roam, warehouse scale, multiplayer, virtual reality gaming venue is open this holiday season and offers Houstonians the excitement and experience of world class virtual reality games with state-of-the-art technology for a seamless immersive experience.
An indoor virtual reality location, Zero Latency now offers Houston teenagers and adults a new option for hosting birthday parties, reunions, team outings, family game nights and presents a fun and exciting way to experience new thrills in a virtual world. It’s an intense and immersive experience, where one minute you’re in your world and the next you’re transported to ours, playing alongside or against your friends in a virtual battle fighting space robots and zombies.
Players have the option of single play or teaming up for multiplayer games, with up to 8 people playing together at one time. In addition to fun activities for families, Zero Latency Houston offers multiple corporate outing options. With fully equipped Meeting Rooms and conference facilities, local companies now have a choice of hosting their next team building, offsite, retreat or holiday party at this new location. In addition to a fully equipped meeting room and private event spaces to comfortably accommodate up to 30 people, there are 2 additional break rooms available for smaller groups of 8 to 10 people. Multiple catering options have been designed to fit the needs of Corporate clients.
The adventure games at Zero Latency have been created on the SLAM platform (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) which transports the players’ real-world location into the virtual reality scene. This allows players to freely move about the warehouse without wires attached to their wearable hardware. SLAM technology is used in robotics and self-driving car applications and this technology is being used here in virtual reality gaming. Zero Latency Houston is only the third venue worldwide to employ Zero Latency’s latest system version implementing this new technology integrating camera and visualization systems into the mix.
There is something for everyone at Zero Latency Houston. First-person shooter player versus environment games include Zombie Survival, Singularity and Outbreak Origins. The non-shooter game, Engineerium, is an exploration game with no weapons exploring a magical world where gravity is not what you expect! Zero Latency also has a player vs player first person shooter game named Sol Raiders. There are three objectives your team needs to win. The other team must meet the same objectives – players must use strategy and skill to win the game.
Several games are currently in development increasing Zero Latency Houston’s offering to Houston’s gamers. The venue is located at 12143 Katy Freeway between Kirkwood Drive and Dairy Ashford Drive, behind Chili’s and Whataburger, next to Cavender’s.
