No Man’s Sky: A Multiplayer Dreamy Universal Journey Gaming Experience in Virtual Reality
What would it be like if you are suddenly awake on an unknown planet in a spacesuit, with no one and nothing around except a spaceship that’s not functioning……?
What would it feel like when you find yourself landing on a no man’s land that no human has ever been there before, and truly feel the VR immersion?
No Man’s Sky VR is developed and created bu Sean Murray and his team at Hello Games. An ambitious game title that is available in 2D and 3D. It’s been 3 years in the making since the game was launched in 2D initially.
The VR version was released back in 2019 with continuous support and updates in an attempt to make the game an ever-evolving worldwide community as a multiplayer epic title.
“As creators of No Man’s Sky, we are in love with everything sci-fi. Virtual reality feels like a science fiction become real, and has always seemed like a perfect fit for this futuristic game of ours. Sean Murray from Hello Games Studios”

Storyline and Gameplay
It is immensely entertaining and breathtaking when we first find ourselves immersed in an unknown and alienated virtual world as an astronaut in a spacesuit. We are in SPACE!
You are merely a tiny dust particle in the vast, infinite space…… However, you are not helpless! You will be guided by the instructions on your space helmet display on how to survive, and source out elements to recharge your hazard protection space suit and on how to get your spaceship up and running again!
For the gameplay, you have four modes to select from: normal, survival, permadeath, creative, or you can enter an ongoing experience if you have friends or teammates online. You can also save a point during your journey with four slots.
Normal Mode: is often our chosen mode. Which captures the essence of the classical No Man’s Sky’s full experience.
Survival Mode: as the title suggests, this mode is more challenging than the other modes. With constant and potential threats and dangers in every moment of the gameplay.
Permadeath Mode: This mode is action-packed with combats and dangerous encounters.
Creative Mode: is the relaxation mode, where no danger and urgency to solve a situation or issue. You build stuff and enjoy the sceneries, that your main tasks. So you can build stuff in the space headquarter, making crafts with other players, you can co-create with maximum number of 32 multiplayers.
The combat battles with enemy ships were exciting, but it gave us a bit of nausea, I felt like I was in a Star War movie. Discovering and scanning through different areas of an unknown planet for essential elements for survival and new lifeforms or different alien species is an integral part of the gameplay and overall theme.
The space battles, building space colonies and headquarter, and participate in space expedition on different planets on the galaxy made the overall experience truly a space mission.
To us, this is more like a virtual reality space journeying experience, rather than completed a game with a solid goal. Because of our own fascination with legendary cult film and sci-fi classic from the 70’s, the “2001 Space Odyssey”, this is the way we like to enjoy the No Man’s Sky in VR.
No Man’s Sky is continuously evolving and growing with main updates and supports, in response to the feedbacks from players around the world. The VR immersion is not perfect, at moments, reminds me of the puzzling experience when I played Eve Valkyrie at E3 for the first time…. Here are two updates in October 2020.
There is a room for improvement, but having that said, No Man’s Sky over all is a surreal space journeying VR gaming experience that we throughly enjoyed! We’d recommend it to anyone who is into the idea of virtual reality space expedition and who is interested in having the experience of full immersion in sci-fi films!
