Noitom Launches Academic Packages to Bring Affordable Motion Capture Technology to Classrooms in the US and Canada
With the year coming to a close and classes soon ending, Noitom—the leading technology company specializing in motion capture and VR tools—is set to launch its Academic Solutions with Perception Neuron, offering schools and universities at every level access to cutting edge motion capture technology to teach, perform research or simply be creative.
Perception Neuron is Noitom’s full-body, inertial measurement unit-based motion capture system. Perception Neuronis portable and can work either tethered to a computer or wirelessly through WiFi with up to five actors at once. The motion capture data can be recorded or streamed live for use in visual effects, animation, video game development, stage performances and many more applications. Compared to other more expensive and complex motion capture systems, Perception Neuron is easily put on and calibrated in under five minutes, potentially saving teaching educators valuable time needed for learning.
The bundles are being introduced to all educators who want to incorporate interactive, emerging technology such as motion capture into their teaching strategy.
In addition to the Perception Neuron system, all schools that purchase one of the Academic Solutions packages also receive a complete 15-class motion capture curriculum that covers every aspect of Perception Neuron. The curriculum outlines many aspects of working with Perception Neuron with topics such as History of Motion Capture and Acting for Mocap and Mixing Motion Capture Data. The Neuron Mocap Course was written by Curvin Huber, Professor of Interactive Media at Becker College with editorial contributions by Professor Stacey Fox of the Michigan State University School of Journalism, both of whom have worked closely with the Perception Neuron system in their classrooms.
The Neuron Mocap Course for Perception Neuron was designed to be a flexible and easy to follow course outline that will allow educators to create their own motion capture course whether they have past experience with the technology or not. The packages also include access to on-site training by Perception Neuron instructors, priority access to Perception Neuron’s support, and complimentary passes to local technology-related shows and events.
The launch of Noitom’s Academic Solution packages marks the the continuing commitment to education that Noitom has been dedicated to since the launch of Perception Neuron in 2014.
