Nokia Launched OZO Virtual Reality Video Camera For Professional Storyteller & Filmmakers
Nokia has just launched a new VR video camera named OZO, built specifically for professional creators, VR content creators, digital storytellers, and filmmakers.

Nokia NOWHERE – OZO 360 Virtual Reality Video Camera
Last week, Nokia has posted a mysterious image with the phrase “NOWHERE” as a preview for the OZO launch.
The spherical ball-shaped video camera is designed by Nokia Technologies R&D facilities in Tampere, Finland. OZO is covered with 8 built-in synchronized global shutter sensors to captured high-resolution 360 videos, and 8 microphones to capture 3D spatial audio sound.

The captured 360 degree video footage along with sound, is viewable via a VR headsets in real-time. Hopefully, the 8 built-in microphones are capable of capturing high fidelity 3D spaaudio, unable to capture hi-fi audio was one of the biggest setbacks with some 360 cameras we have used that are available today.
Lower resolution footage can also be rendered within a short period of time for instant preview, this is a critical advantage for Nokia OZO, previously, the process would take a much longer period of time, as the footage had to be stitched together prior to viewing. OZO is also designed to be compatible with other filming equipment, and is able to perform wirelessly or with a cable.
According to Engadget, well known VR content production studio including JauntVR and Oculus Story Studio have already shown interest and support to Nokia OZO.

OZO is expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 2015. The price for OZO has not been announced, however, Nokia has made it clear, that OZO is designed and made for professionals to capture virtual reality video, so we shall expect a high price tag.
