Oculus Rift Special Event On June 11 @ San Francisco
Oculus is inviting selected media press to attend a special event next month on June 11, San Francisco.
The invitation is printed with a statement that says “Step into the Rift” and we are guessing Oculus will reveal more details about the Oculus Rift Consumer version that will be available for the consumer market in Q1 or first half of 2016.
As a side note, in order to run Oculus Rift consumer on your PC, the spec seems to be pretty high for average PC owner, so if you are planning to pre-order a rift, before you do so, you might want to check on your PC spec. According to Oculus VR, the required PC spec is as follows:
Windows 7 or newer version
2x USB ports ( 3.0 )
Nvidia GTX 970 / AMD R9 290
Intel i5 4590 +
Minimum 8GB of RAM
HDMI 1.3 video output
The Rift image on the official invitation is very different than the current existing Oculus developer kit (DK1 and DK2). So perhaps, we could expect some important updates on the improvement, and change of spec such as tracking and built-in audio. And most importantly, details on how to order one, available date, and the price of a consumer Oculus Rift!
Let’s stay tuned for the eagerly anticipated Oculus consumer version update, we can’t wait to get our hands on the consumer model.
We have experienced Oculus Crescent Bay demo several times in CES and SVVR 2015, and it’s among the best yet, standing side by side with Sony Project Morpheus demo, which is another of my favorite so far!
