SHOT – Virtual Reality Phone Based Lens Adapter Kickstarter Campaign
SHOT is virtual reality app and VR camera lens adapter combination that enables users to create and consume VR easily with current technology. The bundled app works like Vine or Instagram but with immersive photos and videos and it will be compatible with Google Cardboard.
“SHOT enables anyone to shoot 360 degree photos and 235 degree virtual reality videos anywhere and anytime! Consumers no longer need to spend a fortune to purchase a professional grade virtual reality camera to capture virtual reality content! Not to mention the accompanied app that makes captured virtual content sharing like a breeze!”

The lens adapter is released on September 30 as a Kickstarter campaign for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus (and possibly 6S if they don´t change the cameras a lot). Shot consists of two lenses that increase the field of view of your phone’s camera, and an app that allows you to easily record and share immersive content.
235 Degree Immersive Content Capturing With Your iPhone
SHOT basically turns your generic iPhone camera into a virtual reality camera, as it is, an ordinary mobile camera is not suitable to capture immersive content; its field of view is too narrow. Shot’s lens attachment modify the current iPhone cameras changing how the light enters the sensors and increase the horizontal field of view of each camera up to 235 degrees (from the original ~75 degrees).

“The iPhone can’t record video using the two cameras at the same time so it is impossible to create a 360º video the same way we do it with photos. The immersive video created with Shot covers 235 degrees using just one of the cameras. The total available field of view for videos is the equivalent to looking around while you are sitting on a chair.” ( via SHOT Kickstarter )
As it is, an ordinary mobile camera is not suitable to capture immersive content because its field of view is too narrow.
That’s why the Shot team has created a lens attachment for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The lens attachment modify the current iPhone cameras changing how the light enters the sensors and increase the horizontal field of view of each camera up to 235 degrees (from the original ~75 degrees). The estimated delivery date is in April 2016. Check out the Kickstarter Project on this page.
