uSens Partners with Pico Interactive to Bring 26DOF Hand Tracking to Pico Goblin All-in-One VR Headset
“uSens Fingo now the official hand tracking accessory for Pico Goblin, enabling more immersive and intuitive VR experiences”
uSens, Inc., a pioneer in HCI, inside-out tracking solutions for augmented and virtual reality (VR), today announced a partnership with Pico Interactive, Inc. to provide its pioneering 26DOF (degrees of freedom) hand tracking for the Pico Goblin all-in-one (AIO) VR headset. With the addition of uSens’ Fingo hardware, users can experience truly immersive, intuitive and interactive virtual reality experiences by interacting with virtual objects with their bare hands.
“uSens and Pico already have a long-standing relationship, originating from developing custom business solutions together, and a promotional event for the Chinese movie ‘Youth’ by acclaimed director Feng Xiaogang,” said uSens CTO and co-founder Dr. Yue Fei.” “We are excited to formally work together into 2018 to bring our HCI solutions to their user base, as we see all-in-one and mobile headsets as the driving force behind growth in the VR market.”
uSens stereo camera hardware Fingo enables 26DOF hand tracking powered by computer vision and AI technology, making it particularly adept at tracking complicated hand gestures and occlusion scenarios. uSens will now offer a custom Fingo holder created specifically for Pico Goblin users. The Pico Goblin does not require any additional hardware, smartphone, or console to operate, with all the computing power and display embedded into the device. Featuring the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820 processor and a 2.5K display, Pico Goblin features more than 50 games and apps, but the addition of uSens’ hand tracking has education and enterprise customers in mind.
“The increase in B2B use cases of VR in 2017 has led to strong customer demand for hand and gesture tracking, especially in the education, training and events industry,” said Han Yucai, vice president of Pico. “The addition of advanced hand tracking to the Goblin lowers the barriers to entering VR by mimicking how we interact in the real world. By partnering with pioneers in 3D HCI and VR hand tracking, we are excited to offer Goblin users a more natural, intuitive experience for augmented and virtual reality.”
The Pico Goblin is available now for purchase in the U.S. ($269), the U.K. (£269) and Europe (€299) at www.pico-goblin.com.
