Vulcan Productions and Kaleidoscope Launch Inaugural Impact Reality Summit
“Leading virtual reality and augmented reality creators and social impact organizations to explore emerging media for measurable impact”
Vulcan Productions and Kaleidoscope announced the inaugural Impact Reality Summit today, an event bringing together virtual and augmented reality creators, non-profits, technology leaders, funders, and others to connect on the next wave of extended reality (XR) projects for social good.
The Summit will take place at Vulcan’s Seattle headquarters on Thursday, January 9 and Friday, January 10, 2020. Programming will feature panels and conversations, workshops, an exhibition of the best in “XR for good” storytelling, and a showcase of the next wave of upcoming projects in development within the XR industry. Projects can be submitted for consideration here through Monday, December 9 .
“Vulcan Productions is constantly exploring new ways to engage with audiences and scale impact. We’ve seen the potential for impact with XR through our slate of emerging media works,” said Matt Milios, Creative Director, Emerging Media at Vulcan Productions. “We’re excited to host this gathering of creators and organizations interested in discovering and supporting new ways to leverage storytelling for social good.”
Selected projects will be in the running for development funding, with awards in the following categories:

Grand Prix ($20,000) – Awarded to the project with the greatest potential for positive global impact.

Best in Climate Change ($10,000) – Awarded to the project that best highlights the causes, consequences, and solutions to climate change.

Best in Sustainability ($10,000) – Awarded to the project with the greatest potential to support ocean health, environmental protection, fresh water resource management, pollution and waste prevention, or species and habitat protection.

Best in Community & Social Justice ($10,000) – Awarded to the project with the greatest potential to positively impact community and social justice.
