Youtube Announced 360-degree video Support
YouTube announced this week that they will be supporting 360° videos via their Chrome web browser or YouTube application.
360° videos allows the audience to be fully immersed in the video rather than watching a 2D video. Viewers can watch the video from any angle they wish. You can share incredible videos of the entire moment that you’re filming.
Compatible cameras revealed at CES this year such as the Ricoh Theta, Kodak SP360, Bublcam, Giroptic 360cam would enable consumers to capture and playback 360 videos on the Youtube 360° video platform.

You can find more technical information on the video format, along with a script you need to run on the video file to insert the correct metadata. YouTube is working to make this automatic, but in the meantime, this script will make sure your video uploads to YouTube as a 360-degree video.
