pixvanaPixvana Debuts Integrated, Cloud-Based VR Video Creation and Delivery Platform, SPIN Studio

Pixvana today unveiled SPIN Studio, the first of its kind platform for virtual reality (VR) video content creation and delivery, including stitching, editing, finishing, publish, and playback all in one seamless platform. The cloud-based, integrated toolset makes it easier and less expensive than ever for VR professionals to create breakthrough immersive experiences – replacing disparate desktop production tools and providing a complete delivery solution so that any VR video experience can be shared with a variety of audiences.

SPIN Studio is comprised of multiple features including SPIN Publisher and SPIN Player, which soft-launched in September, and the new SPIN Stitch, SPIN Story, and SPIN Finish, introduced today.

“On both commercials and installations, we want to deliver every pixel of detail that our artists have crafted. Pixvana’s streaming solution is an ideal fit for our visual effects-heavy productions,” said Corey Rosen, VP of Creative Marketing, Tippett Studio.

“Being able to transport our fans and sponsors into the stadium and behind the scenes with high quality VR video is a transformative way for us to showcase our unique matchday experience,” said Kyle Sheldon, VP of Marketing for Seattle Sounders FC.

Key Features of SPIN Studio:

— SPIN Stitch syncs and stitches clips from VR rigs and integrated cameras, with adjustments for center point and horizon line, along with interactive mask editing that allows users to review the stitch in both browser and headset.

— SPIN Story combines VR clips in full stories with trimming, and sequencing timelines, transitions, and effects.

— SPIN Finish perfects VR masters with a wide-range of color correction options including exposure, lift gamma gain, 8-way selective color, and sharpness.

— SPIN Publisher generates one-button encoding of VR content using Pixvana’s Field of View Adaptive Streaming (FOVAS) technology, which adjusts focus in real time to deliver 50 megapixel quality within eyeshot at HD bit rates.

— SPIN Player helps users deliver VR video experiences to targeted audiences across all major headsets with low-latency playback.

“SPIN Studio is a revolutionary solution enabling a wide variety of VR publishers including all types of media and entertainment companies and enterprises to create and deliver the best quality VR experiences,” explained Pixvana co-founder Forest Key.

By leveraging high-performance GPU clusters in the cloud, SPIN Studio provides on-demand scalability and real-time interactivity for a seamless content creation and delivery process, even with ultra high-res content. SPIN Studio can stitch and encode as users upload, and can process up to 16K footage in full color and HDR. In addition, enterprise customers can access Pixvana’s SPIN Play SDK for optimized delivery encoding, and a multi-headset SDK built on Unity.

Pixvana’s SPIN Studio will be available via public beta in Q1 2017. To receive updates, please visit: http://www.pixvana.com/spin
