Psyop Hires Matthew Seymour To Drive Its Virtual and Augmented Reality Initiatives

Former Heavy Iron Studios and 2K Games executive hired as Psyop’s Executive Producer/Business Development Director, VR/AR

Psyop, Inc. (www.psyop.com), an award-winning creative studio, announced today it has bolstered its Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) capabilities with the hiring of Matthew Seymour as its new Executive Producer/Business Development Director, VR/AR. With more than two decades of experience in studio operations, product management and content production for gaming and VR studios, Mr. Seymour will oversee operation of Psyop’s VR/AR team to expand the company’s production of original and brand-related VR/AR content and experiences.

“These are incredibly exciting times to be involved in Virtual and Augmented Reality, but also extremely important times as the industry works to figure out the most engaging and compelling experiences for the medium,” said Matthew Seymour. “I joined Psyop because the company is a true innovator in the VR space. The company’s creative chops are practically unparalleled, and the team has clearly demonstrated a proficiency in VR. But what impressed me most is their unique approach and willingness to push the boundaries in terms of what VR & AR can do, especially with animated, real-time rendered experiences.”

Previously, Mr. Seymour was the Vice President of Product Development at Heavy Iron Studios, a leader in developing mass-market titles for video game consoles. At Heavy Iron Studios, Mr. Seymour was responsible for securing and producing a number of VR projects, including the base technology for “The Martian Experience,” original VR games such as “Fat City,” and more. Mr. Seymour has also served as the Studio Head of Vatra, a Kuju Entertainment studio, and as Executive Producer of 2K Games, a videogame publisher managing some of the most creative, respected and premium brands in games today. In the early 2000’s, while at Microsoft Game Studios, Mr. Seymour co-created and produced the top selling and most revered tennis game franchise, Top Spin.

“We are extremely excited to have Matthew Seymour team up with Director David Chontos and the rest of the Psyop group to push our VR efforts forward,” said Neysa Horsburgh, Psyop’s Managing Director. “His leadership and experience will play a major role as we increase our VR production capabilities and slate, and his creative vision will be an invaluable asset as we continue to raise the bar for VR design and development.”

Psyop is the publisher of a Kismet, an award winning fortune-telling app available on Steam, Oculus and PlayStation VR. The company has also created numerous VR and AR experiences for major brands including Honda, Toyota, SKII and Supercell, leveraging their hugely successful advertising content.
