America’s Got Talent Contestants Light Up The Porch – With a Live Performance by Diavolo, and a Crash Course in 360 Filmmaking by Radiant Images

On Thursday, June 29, an electrifying dance performance from America’s Got Talent contestants Diavolo: Architecture in Motion will be captured from center stage with the industry-leading 360 VR camera, the Nokia OZO.

The performance will take the form of an open rehearsal, helmed by Diavolo’s visionary artistic director, Jacques Heim, as the company explores the possibilities of 360 filmmaking with 10 dancers and four of their signature architectural structures.

After capturing the magic of Diavolo, attendees will gain insight into the professional 360 filmmaking process with industry leader and innovator Michael Mansouri, co-founder of Radiant Images, the world-class VR camera rental and production house. Miles Heckendorn of Nokia Technologies will share an interactive demo on Nokia OZO Creator.

The [RE]DESIGN Group, a studio technology consulting firm, and producer of the event, will host a demo station devoted to consumer-level 360-filmmaking tools, tips and tricks to capture and stream 360 films from a smartphone.
Ryan Bell, Digital Strategist of Hydro Studios, and thought-leader in the immersive media space, will speak on The Future of Creativity.

The culmination of the evening will be a riveting panel discussion focused on the promise of cross-disciplinary collaboration and its potential to harness the power of new age storytelling. Mansouri, Heim, and Bell will be joined by Eve Weston, an award-winning journalist, TV writer, and VR content creator. Together they will share their experiences as pioneers in new channels of creative expression.

Other highlights include an Oculus Rift demo station showcasing Radiant Images’ new VR experiences, and a 360-Starter-Shop where attendees can purchase tools to get started on their own 360 films.

This event is brought to you by The Porch, a quarterly event series produced by The [RE]DESIGN Group, that is committed to enabling, empowering and inspiring the community to express their talents in new ways. Build the Future Part II: CINEMA 360 marks the second installment in a four-part series focused on making an impact with creative uses of new technology.

Anyone interested in learning about new technology and storytelling methods is encouraged to attend. The event is free, thanks to generous sponsorship from Dell EMC, Radiant Images, NVIDIA, and The [RE]DESIGN Group. Partners include VR/AR Association and Hydro Studios.

Build the Future Part II: CINEMA 360 will take place from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on June 29 at the Creative Technology Center, 604 Moulton Ave. in Los Angeles. More info and registration: www.theporchla.org
