Avegant Glyph Received 23 Million Series B Funding From Hangzhou Liaison Interactive Information Technology Co. Ltd.
Avegant Inc, the creator of Glyph VR headset received 23 million Series B round funding, led by Hangzhou Liaison Interactive Information Technology Co. Ltd. A Chinese mobile and web company. The headset was also tested by Snoop!
According to Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Venture Source, Avegant Inc. had received $545.9 funding from investors in the first half of 2015, an amount set to eclipse the annual record of $924.5 million set in 2013 if the pace continues.
According to Avegant Chief Executive Joerg Tewes, the newly acquired funding will be used to realize its promise to 3,331 early KickStarter backers who pledged $1,509,506 to bring this project to life in January, 2014. Avegant Glyph is scheduled to ship the first batch by the end of 2015!
Tewes also said partial funding will be used to further improve the overall design, user interface of the VR headset and market its official launch and worldwide distribution!
According to Joerg Tewes, the VR headset is planned to sell for $599 at electronic retailers. The short term goal is sell online in North America and Chinese market, two of the biggest consumer market in the world!
At CES 2014, Avegant Glyph was one of most impressive VR headsets we have tested, it had enormous potential to be one of the most popular consumer VR and 3D headsets. We are eager to see what improvements had been made after a year of waiting!
