Chips Brand Takis Reaches Younger Audience with New Immersive 3D and Interactive 360° ADs

Takis launched a first-to-market 3D and 360° advertising campaign in partnership with OmniVirt, a 360° VR/AR ad platform.

To better reach a younger customer base inundated by increasingly cluttered online content, Takis wanted to deliver ad creative that jumped off of mobile phones just as its bright-colored bags of chips jump off the supermarket shelf.

To do this, Takis used OmniVirt’s proprietary 360° technology to build and distribute three immersive ad experiences across targeted websites: a 3D Display Ad, an Interactive 360° Game, and a 360° Dance Battle.

Each experience centers around the high-energy brand tagline “Are You Takis Enough?”, featuring bags of Takis chips and high schoolers representing each chip flavor through different dance styles.

IRI is currently performing a sales lift study on purchase intent to measure the performance of Takis’ immersive ads. Preliminary results show that the campaign has strongly outperformed expected targets. In particular, the 3D ad boasts a 7.7% engagement rate.

Details for each ad experience:

3D Display Ad: Move phone or click and drag on computer to play with a 3D model of the iconic bag of Takis chips. See live demo here.

360° Dance Battle: Watch Takis flavors come to life as high school dancers battle it out through dance. The 360° content is distributed as a video pre-roll ad.

Interactive 360° Game: Search for hidden Takis chip bags 360° video as the flavor dancers determine if they’re Takis enough.
