GoPro Announces New VR app & 360 VR Camera Rig
GoPro announced a new VR video app for their 360 Omni VR Camera. The camera is priced at $5,000 which includes six Hero4 Black Cameras, as well as the rig and software required to produce the 360 video. Much cheaper price than the 16 camera rig which costs $15,000. On the other hand, if you already have 6 GoPro Hero4 Black cameras, simply buy the GoPro for $1,500. Preorders for both packages are available starting at 8AM PT from GoPro’s website.

GoPro Launching New 360 Video Platform
GoPro is also launching a new 360 video platform for VR videos, hosting curated GoPro VR video content. GoPro VR is available for both Android and iOS starting today. Consider GoPro VR as a rebranding of Kolor Eyes, a VR video platform acquired by the company alongside a video stitching software.
Compatible with VR headset, GoPro says that app will showcase original content from GoPro and a global community of artists, suggesting a combination of the company’s sponsored extreme sport athletes and user-generated content.
At the NAB shows this week, GoPro will showcase demos of live, wireless live VR streaming. The Live VR system will be part of the a partnership with the MotoGP, along with other sporting events in the coming months.
