i4c International Conference: Content Creation for Virtual Reality Worlds

Virtual Reality as a new medium will change the way we tell and experience stories. VR is not just a technology, but rather an experience – experiencing stories. Immersion into virtual worlds works with its own rules and we are only beginning to understand them. How can we merge cinematography, gaming and virtual reality to a new narrative form? Which expertise do you need and how do you develop successful business models? These are some of the questions that will discussed and addressed by the creatives during the i4c Conference on 29th of October in Munich.

speakers at i4c:

Jeff Gomez (Starlight Runner Entertainment, USA) is a successful storyteller and transmedia producer since many years. With his background as a game designer he already created various story worlds such as Disney’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ or James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’. Jeff Gomez also had a huge impact on the VR Writers’ Room White Paper about narrative forms in VR. In his keynote he will speak about the correlations between game design and narrative structures in virtual realities.

The Rogue Initiative, a studio from Los Angeles which collaborates together with film director and producer Michael Bay (’Transformers’), is also building a bridge between film and VR. Hrish Lotlikar, co-founder and Chief Business Developer, will speak about their special business model and gives insights into their first productions.

Winner of the Emmy award and VFX producer, Jan Fiedler (Pixomondo), will present his project ‘Dreamsphere 360’, which was developed in cooperation with the Stuttgart Media University. The project connects live action with full CG VR.

One of the first German artistic VR productions is Sonar360. It was presented at multiple international film and VR festivals already. Philipp Maas, film director and producer, was working at Oculus Story Studio right after the production of Sonar360. After almost a year, he returned with interesting experiences and will talk at i4c about the worlds between film and VR in his presentation.

Furthermore, Dominic Eskofier (NVIDIA), Hervé Leborgne and Emmanuel Laurent (EON Reality), Daniel Sproll (realities.io) and Sylke Rene Meyer (Screenwriter and Film Director) will provide fascinating insights into their work.
