Long Beach State University’s Hosts VR Day for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

WHAT: The all-day event at Long Beach State University includes a keynote conversation, faculty and practitioner panels, demonstrations, a VR career readiness workshop presented by the Career Development Center and two screenings of the innovative VR film, “UTURN.” VR Day is free and open to the public. Campus parking is $8 for the day. Attendees are encouraged to visit CSULB’s transportation website for eco-friendly ways to arrive to the event.

WHEN: Friday, March 9, 2018. The all-day event runs from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. A complete VR Day schedule can be found here.

WHERE: VR Day will take place at various locations on campus. Registration check-in is at the Duncan Anderson Gallery, Department of Design. Campus parking is close to the Duncan Anderson Gallery, at 6300 E. State University Drive, Suite 332, Long Beach, California 90815. A complete map of the campus can be found here.

WHY: “Mirroring the diversity that is the hallmark of the campus, the goal of VR Day is to highlight intellectual, gender and racial diversity within the industry,” said Dr. Wade Martin, chair of the College of Business Administration’s economics department. “It serves to prepare our majority minority students to become strong contributors to the burgeoning VR industry.”

NOTES: The event includes faculty and student demonstrations, new products from Native VR and Wareplai, and a VR career readiness workshop sponsored by the Career Development Center.

It is recommended that attendees bring their own charged smartphone. Some demonstrations will require downloading applications to run associated programming.
