Apple Acquires German AR Startup Metaio

Apple’s enters augmented reality by acquiring Metaio. A German based AR startup that we introduced back in April, who has made a augmented reality app for Italian auto maker Ferrari. Below is the promo video:

Metaio has made several augment reality apps, here are two recommended by Business Insider:

Days before Apple made the acquisition, there were rumors that Google was the one that would be acquiring Metaio, but it was Apple that went through with the acquisition!

According to Techcrunch, when questioned about the Metaio acquisition, Apple responded “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.” Nuff said!
