Virtual reality seem to be a hot topic just not too long ago, yet their distance cousin is also claiming its attention from the global tech community. 

This year holograms are making their way into the booths at CES. Several tech companies are promoting the technology. Despite what they are making, all seems to be very excited about the future of the AR industry. 

We all know that CES has never been a huge backer of adult industry for the show, we have seen many sex toy makers being turned down to showcased at the world’s largest consumer electronic show. However, Naughty America VR was  successful year after year to make their way to the show floor, and even hosting meeting rooms on the CES floor. 

Andrea Hronopolous, CEO of Naughty America old VentureBeat in an interview the untold story of their AR progress. Andrea said that they were experimenting with AR porn last year, but the result were less than satisfying due to the challenges to make their virtual CGI models realistic as actual models. 

Instead, they shifted gears on holograms in a strip club for augmented reality, producing volumetric video captures rather than computer graphics.

The concept of sitting back in your own living room while enjoying a private striptease performed by a lovely pornstar  is indeed a good proposition for porn zealots. Naughty America’s pivot to volumetric videos instead of CGI seems to be on the correct path.  

Hronopoulos noted Naughty America fans can now invite a virtual stripper into their living, even bringing in the pole, as a private invitation only home strip club experience. Their latest product is ready for the consumers and will be included in the Naughty America VR strip club. He believe that this year the quality of production has improved drastically, and that the concept of bringing captures are making the AR models much more realistic in the volumetric video recordings. The recent released of series of holographic clips of virtual strippers is a huge attraction to gaining more subscribers. 

One hurdle of holograms at home is the hardware. Most presently available technology to display high quality holograms are beyond what most people can afford, which can range from a plastic pyramid for mobile phones to stand-alone projectors. To compensate this challenge, Naughty America utilize AR technology, so the company can display 3D volumetric capture on phone and in virtual reality. This means that the user can rotate the model and to walk around them in the video, while being able to see everything clearly. 

 San Diego based Naughty America VR has always been at the forefront of the VR porn revolution, and adopting cutting edge technology to integrate with their content production expertise. These guys have been producing adult content for the past two decades, and they always embrace innovative technologies whenever possible. 

At the moment, their AR application is available only on Android app, but the company is currently producing the iOS version. 

Andrea said that the company’s VR porn videos is becoming the best converting products, and they are on the hunt to perfect its “Holodeck” experience in VR. The company has been busy producing and releasing 3D porn videos, but now AR is also on the menu. Fans with VR headsets can now enjoy immersive porn, and at the same time, invite virtual strippers into their living room, or to watch them in the Naughty America VR stripclub. Let’s say what they offer is almost like a Vegas-in-a-box. 

Member will now have access to 50+ AR performances of strippers. You can have the choice of being in a strip club or having them dance on a pole. The models are featured in both male and female, with various position in action. The models can be resized, rotated, and adjusted to your desired preferences. The same AR models can also be viewed via a mobile or tablet, similar to how to play AR games such as Pokeman Go. With a VR headset, user can either bring the live size model into the room, or chose to have black background. 

In the future, Naughty America plans to partner with strip clubs from around the world, and utilize the technology to attract customers to these clubs in real life.  He says

Of course, things are always easier said than done. Just like we have seen with VR, it will take some time before AR and hologram technologies to reach a mass adoption stage. Despite it’s incredible potential, we have seen all too many early stage technologies fail before they obtain enough customers to sustain the ecosystem. 

At the moment, Holograms and AR are still mostly focused on B2B (business serving business), which can be used at events or public environment. We are indeed still the first generation of development.

We have to admit the essence of the display still appears a bit rudimentary with models appearing a bit distorted. Yet, this is a still a huge improvement to the company’s previous attempt at VR porn integration.
