Origins VR – A Virtual Reality Experience In Conjunction With Orange Sunshine Debuting @ SXSW 2016

This year at SXSW, pre-conceived designations of “film,” “interactive,” “music” and “virtual reality” are converging like never before. The creative work being showcased in Austin this March doesn’t fit into standard categories, but spans mutliple industries.

If you’re attending SXSW, make sure you check out the Orange Sunshine VR experience. Orange Sunshine, produced by filmmaker William A. Kirkley, Orange Sunshine is a highly anticipated film that follows the true story of the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, a group of SoCal hippies, surfers that explore and experiment with psychedelic drugs, that became the largest suppliers of LSD in the world during the 1960s and 1970s, and is premiering at SXSW film. Origins VR – A LSD Inspired VR Experience For Orange Sunshine

We don’t recommend dropping acid in real life, but the VR experience is a safe and “far-out” way to immerse yourself in the psychedelic scene of the film. In conjunction with the indie film, and in the spirit of the exciting addition of a virtual reality and augmented reality track to the SXSW lineup, the filmmakers have crafted an accompanying virtual reality experience, “Origins,” that takes viewers deep into the narrative of the story. Festival attendees can immerse themselves in the world of the Brotherhood of Eternal Love in the theater lobby and at the premiere party. On March 16-18, the VR experience will also be part of the Virtual Cinema installation, at the Hilton Austin Downtown on the HTC Vive headset.

VR experiences have been leveraged to accompany and promote big-budget studios titles in at a growing rate as the medium continues to gain momentum. “Origins” is a great example of the way that independent, smaller-budget films are navigating the new world of VR and AR, and there is no better place to debut Orange Sunshine at SXSW, an event dedicated to the very best in new and emerging multimedia technologies!
