Rogue Initiative Launches First Original Cinematic VR Game Experience -‘Crowe: The Drowned Armory’

The Rogue Initiative, a leading full spectrum entertainment studio and content developer, will unveil its first-ever original Cinematic VR Game Experience – ‘Crowe: The Drowned Armory,’ which combines traditional storytelling with innovative gameplay in a unique virtual world.

The release will be exclusive on the digital distribution platform HTC Vive, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 for a two-week window, followed by Oculus on Tuesday, June 13, followed by PlayStation VR. The series, which blends fantasy and sci-fi, will include cinematic, story, passive modes and arcade-style survival modes in its full release.

“At the heart of The Rogue Initiative is an unbridled passion for creating content using the latest technologies. We are indie developers that really wanted to bring some of the cool things we grew up watching and playing to life. The world of Crowe is a culmination of some of those things and VR is a great medium to explore telling stories in different ways,” said Pete Blumel, Co-Founder, CEO and Creative Director, The Rogue Initiative.

The interactive experience follows a starry-eyed tribal boy who becomes the key to saving his village from alien conquistadors when he inadvertently discovers long forgotten technology hidden and abandoned by his ancestors a 1000 years ago and will learn of his true significance along the way.

“At The Rogue Initiative, we focus on building deep, rich worlds and character driven stories. In ‘Crowe,’ we created a beautiful, mysterious alien world combining elements from science fiction and high fantasy. As our premiere release, Crowe encapsulates the studio’s talent and imagination,” said Cathy Twigg, Co-Founder, Chief Content & Production Officer, The Rogue Initiative.

During the first experience, ‘The Drowned Armory,’ players will interact with an A.I. Techno-Fairy named AMI (ay-mee), to fight off alien drones with a shield and plasma energy bow, and use head tracking and parallax to solve puzzles in order to activate an ancient robot mech to defeat the giant dragon that dwells at the bottom of a flooded, derelict temple… The Drowned Armory.

The Rogue Initiative is a 360 full-spectrum production studio generating content powered cinematic Intellectual Properties. At the forefront of Film, Games, Television, and VR convergence, our talent driven team of experts are forging and elevating traditional storytelling with interactive entertainment. In collaboration with key filmmakers, studios, and technology companies, we are transforming dreams into reality. In 2016, the company announced a partnership with Michael Bay to develop original entertainment properties for virtual reality and immersive entertainment.
