Summit Tech Demonstrates Video Calling At Mobile World Congress

Summit Tech plans to demonstrate the ability to have 360° video calling via the Oculus Rift at the Mobile World Congress next week in Barcelona. Their technology enables Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Video over LTE (ViLTE) calls, as well as using the Giroptic 360 cam to allow 360° live-stream videos to be transmitted onto the VR headset.

This indicates that the VR camera system would enable a person to wear a pair of VR goggle, and then see the everything from any angle in real-time on the other side of the video call. The videos can also be streamed on PCs, mobile phones, and tablets.

The Giroptic 360cam is the first consumer 360° camera capable to send real-time content onto a mobile phone. The camera will be available in spring this year at $499 USD each . Finally, an affordable consumer version 360° camera!
