Toy Industry Invites VR, AR and MR Developers to Pitch to Them

Forget wooden blocks and cardboard boxes, the toy industry is ready to embrace the next generation of technology. Organisers of the Inventors Workshop want to help AR, VR & MR developers and designers to pitch their ideas to huge toy manufacturers and retailers including Hasbro, Argos and Character Options. The event takes place at Whittlebury Hall, Northampton on September 20th 2016.

Billy Langsworthy, conference director: “Continuing our mission to ‘unite the architects of the next generation of play’, the workshop brings together leading inventors, distributors and retailers to discover new ideas and make new connections in this innovative industry.

“This year we – and our pitch partners – are looking for the next big toy innovation in VR/AR and MR and want anyone with ideas for tech-enabled devices that enhance a toy and game experience to come forward and let us put them in front of toy giants including Hasbro. This may involve LED or motor innovations, or VR headsets that create a totally new game or play experience. Whatever it is, we want to hear from them.”

Organizers are looking for tech ideas, which may include:

• Smart device enabled applications

• VR/AR/MR

• Sensory tech and associated applications

• NFC innovations / applications

• Holographic innovations / applications

• Voice recognition

• 3D printing or recognition

• Camera recognition

• Animatronics / ROBOT

The third annual Inventors Workshop will once again offer an exciting line-up of informative and entertaining conference sessions, kicking off with an inspirational keynote from the inventing bods at Hasbro and following with a session from Radio 1 DJ, Xtra Factor presenter and card game supremo Matt Edmondson (below left).
