Ghost Fleet VR, which was part of Sundance’s 2019 New Frontiers Exhibition, is based on the powerful feature documentary GHOST FLEET (which will premiere in select theaters June 7th) and immerses viewers in the issue of human trafficking through story of one of the feature documentary’s subjects Tun Lin. Will launch on 5/24.

Drop in the Ocean VR, which premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, is a 7-minute group interactive VR experience that shrinks participants down to about 2 inches tall to take a ride on a jellyfish and develop a deeper understanding of the ocean and the threat plastic pollution poses. Opening at California Academy of Sciences on 5/23

Guardians of the Kingdom VR, a poetic and highly immersive 360 degree experience, that premiered at Earth X Festival 2019 and is screening at Cannes XR this year, tells a compelling story about the humpback whales of Tonga and provides a rare glimpse in the long history between humans and whales.

VULCAN PRODUCTIONS 2019 VR PROJECTS

DROP IN THE OCEAN VRDrop In The Ocean VR is an interactive, stereoscopic 3D, VR experience based on the stunning microscopic photography and optical effects mastery of Academy-Award winning visual pioneer Peter Parks. Four people are “shrunk” together to the size of plankton to experience and interact with the oceans from a completely new perspective. This is the first-ever, impact-focused experience uniting four people in an open, interactive space. It allows full freedom of movement and creates an atmosphere of shared adventure. While dazzling and engaging, the beauty is starkly contrasted by heart-wrenching moments of devastation caused by plastics pollution and micro-plastics. The experience harnesses these moments and puts the audience on the path to create change. Integral to the installation is the “off boarding area” which will provide more information about the threats to our ocean and what you can do to make a difference.

GUARDIANS OF THE KINGDOM VR

Guardians of the Kingdom VR experience explores the links between humans and whales. It is an interwoven story of two mothers — one human, one whale — and the connections that bind them. It is the story of reconciliation between a giant who was once hunted and the people of the Kingdom of Tonga. It is the story of a place called home for generations by both the whales and the Tongans. Guardians of the Kingdom is the inspiring story of a richly vivid and dramatic legacy inherited by a mother in the waters of the Kingdom of Tonga and passed on to future generations. It is the story of a kingdom once torn apart that is now reconnecting the creatures from the land and sea for a common future together in the shared place they call home.

GHOST FLEET VR

Ghost Fleet VR immerses viewers in the true story of slavery in the Thai fishing industry. Based on a main character in the feature documentary, Ghost Fleet, we step onboard and into the heroic story of Tun Lin, who was sold into slavery when he moved to Thailand looking for work. Born in Myanmar, Tun Lin was kidnapped when he was fourteen-years-old and forced to fish without pay as far away as the coast of Somalia. He spent 11 years on the boat and suffered endless abuse and trauma alongside his crewmates of enslaved fishermen. Journey with Tun Lin as he retraces his ordeal, the years of horrific treatment on board the slave ship, and his brave escape from a prison made of water.
