Virtual Rehab – The Future of Virtual Relality Inmates Correctional Services

Virtual Rehab‘s vision is to reduce the number of repeated offenses and re-incarceration rates through inmates’ virtual reality correctional services and rehabilitation programs.

Every person in life deserves a second chance. Prisoners are no exception to this rule. In fact, they are the ones that are in most dire need for help, support, and development to become improved citizens upon their release. This can only be realized through correctional and rehabilitation programs that will prepare them to lead their future lives in a positive manner in order to avoid the possibility of repeated offenses.

Since the war on drugs started in 1970, America’s prison population has surged 700 percent to 2.4 million according to Business Insider’s “13 Signs that America’s Prison System is Out of Control” (April, 2012).

As published by Stephanie Slifer (April 23 2014) on CBS news, about 68% of 405,000 prisoners released in 30 states were arrested for a new crime within three years of their release from prison, and 77% were arrested within five years, according to a report by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS)

In addition, according to the Recidivism of State Prisoners report, within five years of release, 82% of property offenders were arrested for a new crime, compared to 77% of drug offenders, 74% of public order offenders and 71% of violent offenders.

At Virtual Rehab, we are developing a powerful tool that would rehabilitate rather than just punish. The scope of this tool includes Education (Curriculums, Sex Offender Programs, Family Violence, Living Skills, Community Correctional Programs), Job Training, etc.

Virtual Rehab believes that putting a kid in the corner does not teach them how to be a better person but rather teaches them not to get caught.

Virtual Rehab does not only aim to leverage the advancement in technology (Virtual Reality) to revolutionize the way inmates and prisons are currently under operation, but also to give back and deliver upon its moral obligation towards its global community.

The Global Prison Population total is currently set at 10.5 million (out of which 2.2 million are in the U.S. and 1.6 million are in China) according to the International Centre for Prison Studies (October 2016). The FY 2016 US Budget allocated is $8.8 Billion for Prisons & Detention ()according to the U.S. Department of Justice FY 2016 Budget Request) along with an approximate FY 2016 Global Budget of $35.2 Billion.

Product Overview

At Virtual Rehab, we are developing a powerful tool that would rehabilitate rather than just punish inmates. Leveraging the state-of-the-art advancements in virtual reality technology, we will work closely with government authorities along with global firms for private prisons and jails to put in-place correctional services and rehabilitation programs, which will allow inmates to not only serve the duration of their sentence, but also be well-educated and well-informed of the committed offence(s). This will ultimately reduce or even avoid any potential re-incarceration following inmates’ serving of their sentence and their release.

Inmates will also be able to leverage our tool to further enhance their soft and their hard skills with real-life scenarios. This will further allow them to better integrate and be an effective part of our community, rather than being seen as a burden.

The team’s plan is to work with government authorities along with global firms for private prisons and jails to roll-out our tool globally. The tool will be offered in multiple languages to meet the local market needs and demands.
