Vuzix Teams up with Ubimax to Deliver a Hands Free M300 Smart Glasses Manufacturing Solution to WS Kunststoff-Service

Vuzix® Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI), (“Vuzix” or, the “Company”), a leading supplier of Smart Glasses, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies and products for the consumer and enterprise markets, is pleased to announce that the company has teamed up with Ubimax to deliver a hands-free smart glasses solution to WS Kunststoff-Service utilizing the Vuzix M300; to reduce errors, optimize processes, and simplify new employee training via a single wearable device across several use cases within their multifaceted manufacturing operations.

Facing growing competition from low-wage countries, the Stuhr Germany located WS Kunststoff-Service sought an error free process that would comply with strict ergonomic standards, while increasing output on their electrical component assembly lines. The initial project between WS Kunststoff-Service, Vuzix and Ubimax was quickly adopted within a few months on two assembly lines driven by Ubimax’ xMake solution running on Vuzix smart glasses. Wearing the Vuzix M300, the worker is guided step by step through the process via an intuitive graphical user interface, while the M300 concurrently communicates with external sensors, scales, video-based object recognition, etc. to drive quality assurance into the xMake controlled process.

“Our employees benefit from an intuitive hands-free workstyle, and our customers from superior products and services, (creating) long term competitive advantage,” said Wassim Saeidi, CEO WS Kunststoff-Service. “We aimed for a fully integrated Wearable Computing solution that can be used across different business processes.”

The hands-free manufacturing solution delivered by Ubimax and Vuzix resulted in a significant performance increase for the assembly and training processes. But beyond the production output gains and near zero error reduction, WS Kunststoff-Service sought to extend the reach of this technology, and later added Ubimax’ xAssist. This hands-free solution eliminates the need for workers to leave their production line positions to consult with shift leaders when questions or errors arise, and instead they simply call from their Vuzix M300 Smart Glasses to receive real-time telepresence support to solve the issue. This ability to deploy one single device, the Vuzix M300, across multiple use cases in warehousing, assembly, and quality assurance has resulted in significant cost reductions for WS Kunststoff-Service.

“Vuzix is excited to partner with Ubimax and their Frontline Solutions Suite to deliver a holistic hands free smart glasses manufacturing solution to WS Kunststoff-Service, an emerging and innovative automotive supplier that is actively deploying Industry 4.0 production processes”, said Paul Travers. “WS Kunststoff-Service joins the growing list of hundreds of Vuzix customers that are working to deploy our technology.”

Further information related to the WS Kunststoff-Service implementation can be found on the Ubimax website.
