World Trust Organization Announces Beyond Imagining VR Experience

On Saturday June 16, 2018 World Trust Organization to host Beyond Imagining: A Virtual Experience of Justice and Healing event aimed to evoke positive change and societal healing through Virtual Reality.

For over two decades, World Trust has produced equity and diversity films, curriculum and workshops that open minds and hearts while deepening the conversation about race. The transformative educational experiences facilitated by World Trust deconstruct the system of racial inequity for learners, allowing new ideas and narratives on race to emerge.

World Trust focuses on creating environments that promote justice and healing while fostering an emerging culture of respect and belonging.

World Trust Organization explores how powerful technology of Virtual Reality can compel social justice and healing – through creating a deeper awareness of another’s perspective.

Studies have shown a marked increase in empathy just after a few minutes of experiencing the life of another person within a virtual reality world. With this knowledge, Dr. Shakti Butler and the World Trust team have combined its expertise in sharing messages of social justice and healing along with skill in filmmaking with the world of VR.

The outcome of this combination is groundbreaking. Its potential is just at the beginning of the journey of where this can lead. Healing hearts, expanding minds, and inspiring social action – is the ultimate vision of this project.

“Virtual Reality has massive potential to interrupt bias narratives while offering powerful strategies for societal change. Although commonly used as a distraction away from justice, VR can spark healing and change beyond our re-imagining.” – Shakti Butler, PhD, filmmaker and Founder & President of World Trust

Join us for “Beyond Imagining – A Virtual Experience of Justice and Healing” where Dr. Shakti Butler and World Trust will premiere its first-ever film in the VR format.

Through VR demonstrations by Light Sail VR and MURSION (R), facilitated dialogue by World Trust’s renowned facilitators, networking with community members and thought leaders in the VR industry, and more – the public will witness firsthand the potential of VR and community commitment to create lasting change.

Mr. Chris Milk, one of narrative VR’s best known creators described VR in his 2015 TED talk: “It’s a machine…But through this machine we become more compassionate, we become more empathetic. Ultimately, we become more human.”

To personally witness the power of how virtual reality can enable us to “Create a New Reality” get your tickets today as space is limited.
