MacVR is here to provide a viable solution, it enables users to view and work with their Mac OSX desktop in virtual environment. That’s all it does for now, as it is an early stage alpha stage built in beta 0.2. This might be a baby step, but it certainly provides more possibilities of using Mac with other existing virtual reality equipment in the future.

MacVR Beta 0.2 Support Oculus DK2 HMD

According to MacVR, the beta 0.2 version is with non-Retina display support, and it currently only supports Oculus Rift DK2 headset, with HTC Vive & Valve OpenVR supports coming in the near future. MacVR’s beta version 0.2 is available for download on WEARVR platform and MacVR’s official webpage.

  1. Developer of MacVR here. Just to clarify, version 0.2 has full retina support, and has done from the first ever release.

    What this version adds is non-retina support (which did not work previously).
